Set not in Illyria, but on a university campus caught in the full glitter of the disco era, the production retains Shakespeare’s original text while spinning it through a mirror ball of funk, fashion, and feverish romance.

The story unfolds with all its classic confusion: disguises, misplaced affections and mistaken identities. But here, the stage is lit with neon, the halls echo with vinyl, and love blooms amidst campus theatre and late-night dance parties. Viola arrives not in a strange court, but a strange college, where love is as unpredictable as the playlist. 
Olivia is a queen of cool aloofness, Orsino broods over mixtapes, and Malvolio—oh, poor Malvolio—struts in yellow stockings and Converse, convinced of his own groovy greatness. 

Directed by Vaishali Chakravarty, founder of Joy Of Drama, this inventive production features the talented students of the Shakespeare Summer Program India–UK 2025, a cross-cultural ensemble of young performers who bring exuberance, insight, and rhythm to every line and scene.
