Most parents and teachers avoid talking about subjects like money, budgeting, profit or loss with children. This leads to the child developing an unhealthy relationship with money. It can hamper her professional and personal growth.

Shweta Rajpal Kohli

Director & Head of Public Policy, Sequoia Capital India LLP

As the Head of Public Policy, Shweta works with government stakeholders to craft policies that help accelerate the growth momentum of the start-up ecosystem in India & South East Asia. She advises portfolio companies on managing regulatory risks and unlocking new levers of growth. She helps create partnerships that align the vision of founders and governments.
Prior to joining Sequoia, Shweta led government outreach and advocacy efforts for Salesforce across India & South Asia. As a key member of the South Asia Leadership Team, she worked closely with business leaders to support the next chapter of growth. Previously, she led a team of policy professionals at Uber across South Asia, engaging with government stakeholders on ridesharing regulations and digital payments.
Before joining the world of policy, Shweta spent two decades as a business journalist and TV news anchor. As the Group Business Editor of India’s leading broadcaster NDTV, she covered global economic events including G20 meetings, World Bank-IMF meetings, OPEC meetings, WEF’s Annual Meeting in Davos, and travelled as part of the Prime Minister’s Media delegation. She has interviewed global leaders including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Indra Nooyi, Richard Branson, will.i.am, Jeffrey Immelt, Sheryl Sandberg, Michael Dell, Nikesh Arora and Raghuram Rajan.
Shweta has completed mid-career programs from Wharton Business School, INSEAD Business School and University of Westminster. She holds a Bachelor’s in Journalism from Lady Shri Ram College with a #1 ranking in Delhi University. She has done her Master’s in Political Science from Delhi University and a distance learning MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
